Sony?s new WX-GT90BT features Smartphone control.

LAS VEGAS, NV ? Sony has added a new double-DIN CD-receiver, the WX-GT90BT, featuring Sony?s App remote technology. This combines consumers? car audio music assets and smartphone apps into a single source list that can be controlled from the car audio system or a compatible smartphone.

The WX-GT90BT uses Sony?s App Remote app for USB-connected iPhones and Bluetooth-connected Android phones. Once downloaded to the compatible smartphones, the apps turns connected smartphones into touchscreen remotes and consumers can launch their favorite smartphone app on the App Remote user interface.

This App Remote is free of charge for Apple App Store and Google Play members, subject to terms and conditions.

Drivers no longer have to go back-and-forth between the car audio system and smartphone to access a favorite tune. Music information such as album artwork is displayed on the smartphone screen, while incoming text messages can be read aloud on Android phones through the car?s speakers for ultimate driving convenience.

The WX-GT90BT will fit in vehicles with double-DIN size head unit openings and provides a bigger display and easy-to-use key buttons for safer operation while driving.

The built-in Bluetooth offers hands free calling and music streaming, allowing wireless playback, track control, and display of song information from Bluetooth enabled MP3 players or smartphones.

A front panel USB input allows you to connect, control and charge your Walkman, iPod, iPhone, Android, Blackberry, or other compatible USB devices while accessing your digital music files, including viewing metadata such as song title and artist on the front display.

You can also listen to and control Pandora streaming content through a connected iPhone, Android or Blackberry.? Or you can add the new SXV200 SiriusXM Connect Vehicle Tuner Kit (sold separately, SiriusXM subscription required) to receive expanded channel lineup from SiriusXM, featuring 10 exclusive commercial-free music channels.

The WX-GT90BT receiver will be available in March for about $199.
