Parent who stay at home during the days and work at night?how is it?

I am considering working at night [4PM-9PM] to make some extra money to save for our kid?s college funds.

I know it can work but I wonder what it is like? What is a normal day like for you? I?m just very curious! To me, it almost seems like a High School job when you work after ?school? but for me it would be like working after staying home with my kids. LOL! That?s the best way I could relate. Anyway, what is it like and do you often feel overwelmed?

Thanks!!
For those who don?t know my husband is in the military. I would be working at the Base Exchange no more then four hours a night nineteen hours weekly it is down the street. It would probably be three days a week and a weekend. I don?t think I?ll be sleep deprived because I?ve worked these kinds of shifts before [and way worse] before we moved here.

My husband has come home from Iraq! [Yay!] Now they have them on graveyard shift [10:15PM-6:15AM] so our big meal for the day is now breakfast. I figured I would still make dinner in the crock pot.

Bedtime is something I will miss. I didn?t think about that. But I also think it would be really good for my husband to have that time alone with the kids.

Oh well, I?m just considering it. I just feel almost useless at home. Sure, we stay busy during the day BUT at night we do nothing at all.

Thanks for the answers!

i used to work from 6 to 3 at night and it wore me out i found i had no patience for parenting with my job schedule so i quit to be a stay at home mom. some ppl are able to do good at it but i was one of the ppl that just couldnt hack it so i only lasted about six months.
