Al Gore's Rant Shows the Arrogant, Petulant and Defiant Attitude of Global Warming Hysterics (ContributorNetwork)

COMMENTARY | Al Gore's recent rant at the Aspen Institute tells us not only about how "super serial" the former vice president is about global warming, but about his attitude toward people who disagree with his view that it exists and is a problem.

People like Gore do not like to engage the arguments of people who suggest there is less than meets the eye to "global warming" or "climate change" or whatever that thing that concerns them is called this week. In their minds there are the people who believe in global warming-God's children-and those who do not-the spawn of Beelzebub.

For Gore, that attitude exploded in full view with an obscenity laced tirade. It was mostly harmless, though it gives one pause when one considers that this man was about 500 or so votes away from becoming president of the United States.

The arrogant, petulant and defiant attitude of global warming hysterics like Gore can be dangerous when coupled with real power. It is not just the tendency to label climate change critics as "deniers" placing them in the same category as Nazi Holocaust deniers. It can lead to corruption and policies that can wreck the lives of tens of millions of people.

Climategate, when it exploded about two years ago, revealed that global warming advocates were suppressing evidence that cast doubts on their theories and were conspiring to falsify data to buttress those same theories. NASA climate scientist James Hanson, a global warming advocate, has been accused by the American Tradition Institute's Environmental Law Center, according to the Daily Caller, of personally benefiting from his position in outside enterprises to the tune of $1.2 million. The ATI is currently suing NASA to force the space agency to surrender documents detailing Hanson's activities.

But the corruption of scientists and the scientific process is just the tip of the iceberg. Under President Barack Obama, using the assumption that global warming theories are true, the EPA is enacting draconian regulations that will force industries to curb the emissions of carbon dioxide, considered a greenhouse gas, at great expense that will be passed along to the consumers.

In essence the EPA is imposing a kind of carbon tax that congresses controlled by both parties have rejected for decades. The Obama administration is also restricting the production of oil and gas and the mining of coal, exacerbating the current recession.

One is therefore tempted to throw back the profane language that Gore used back in his face. It is that indeed.
