Gary Ross and Nina Jacobson
The collaboration between Gary Ross and Color Force on The?Hunger Games must be?proving fruitful.
The director and the production company, run by Nina Jacobson, have teamed?up for a pitch by John Whittington, which is set up at New Regency. Ross is?attached to direct while Jacobson will produce.
Ross' producing partner Alison Thomas?will also produce.
Details are being kept under wraps but it is understood to be a contemporary story revolving around?Cyrano de Bergerac, a man who is in love with a woman but is?forced to woo her surreptitiously on behalf of a far more handsome but less?expressive suitor. ?The twist here is the story is told using today?s vast?and complex social media tools.
Ross came up with the initial idea.
Bryan Unkeless will oversee for Color Force.
CAA-repped Ross will start shooting Hunger Games, the high-profile?adaptation of the Suzanne Collins book series, later this month.
Whittington wrote the 2009 Black List script I Hope We Can Still Be Friends,?whose logline summarized the story thus: ?A couple breaks up after five years?together but vow to remain friends after the fact, which proves much harder?to do than they imagined.?
